I think my favorite part of writing is surprising myself. When a character that I struggle with suddenly clicks and their story starts to come to me easily, that’s such a good feeling, and that’s also when your own characters start to surprise you. In Forgotten, the Forbidden Hills and Little Raven are entirely fictitious. I wanted to create an area in the United States that I could mold into exactly what I needed it to be. Obviously, there is no place in the U.S. that’s so disorienting it’s referred to as “The Bermuda Triangle” on land, but I needed a geographic location that fit that description.
