Fires of Passion, Fires of Fury: Behind the Scenes of the Unseen
If you’ve kept up with my writing projects, then you know what the title of this post means. The Mortal Fires, book two in the Undercover Elementals series, has arrived! It’s my second preorder book of the summer and will become my fourth release of the year this November. To celebrate, I’m taking you on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Unseen realm.
The Unseen is a parallel world, one we first encountered in The Mortal Falls. This world embodies magic and, as the series title hints, a connection to the natural and chemical elements. I love playing around with this premise–in sexy ways, in fun ways, and in spooky ways. In the first book, water played a central role in the story. In the second book, fire becomes important. I won’t spoil the surprise by giving away exactly how fire is involved in the plot, but I will say this. As with The Mortal Falls, in The Mortal Fires the book title and the element in question have multiple meanings.
The fires of passion should be a fairly obvious meaning. 🙂 After all, Nevan and Lindsey share an intensely passionate bond that grows and develops further in the second book. What about the fires of fury, you may ask? Well, our couple faces a mysterious and immensely powerful enemy, one more frightening than their foes in the first book. This enemy has a score to settle– a very personal one. In the battle to save both worlds, mortal and elemental, secrets from Nevan’s past will be exposed.
Fire also has other associations in the book, some literal and some metaphorical. But you’ll have to read the book to learn all the secrets of The Mortal Fires. I know, I know, you have to wait until November. I’m so mean! I invite you to join my newsletter club, where I’ll be sharing more about the book in the months leading up to its release. For now, I hope you can settle for laying eyes on the hot cover. 🙂
