Friday Fun: 3 Sexy Excerpts from Upcoming Romance Books (post by Anna)
It’s a dreary Friday in Upper Michigan, rainy and dark. To enliven the day, I’ve cranked up my favorite energetic music and, just for you, I’ve selected three of my favorite sexy excerpts from three of my upcoming books–The Mortal Falls, Fired Up, and Reborn to Conquer.
From the paranormal romance The Mortal Falls (Undercover Elementals, Book 1)
Note: This book won 1st place in the 2015 Melody of Love contest (Paranormal category), and 3rd place in the 2015 Hot Prospects contest (Futuristic, Fantasy & Paranormal category).
“Take it easy, darlin’. I won’t kiss ye.” He bent closer still, his skin a hair’s breadth from mine. “Not tonight.”
I gnawed at my lower lip. My chest pumped out quick, shallow breaths. My body hummed with a need I refused to acknowledge. “Keep your lips away from mine please.”
“As you wish.”
He ducked his head to mine, his lips a millimeter from my cheek, and blew a steamy current across my skin, igniting a firestorm. He moved his mouth down my face, never making contact but eliciting hard shivers with every whisper of his breath across my flesh. A tiny noise burst out of me, a cross between a gasp and a moan, so soft I prayed he hadn’t noticed. His muscles tightened, his shoulders bulged. As his lips approached the corner of my mouth, he hissed out a soft, erotic breath that unleashed a crushing need within me.
I tried to speak with authority, but it came out breathless. “What are you doing?”
“Keeping my lips away from yours.” His breaths fanned across my cheek to my ear. I heard nothing except his exhalations and my own pulse throbbing in my ears. He brushed his mouth across my lobe. “Is this far enough?”
From the contemporary erotic romance Fired Up (inspired by Tempted by a Kiss)
Note: This book won 1st place in the 2015 Beacon contest (Erotic Romance category), 2nd place in the 2015 Melody of Love contest (Contemporary category), and 3rd place in the 2015 Emerald City Opener contest (Contemporary category).
Her hand flew to her chest, where a pang started behind her ribs. How on earth could she face him after last night? Acid burned up her throat. She glanced down at the yoga pants and form-fitting T-shirt she’d slipped on after crawling out of bed a few minutes ago. Maybe she should change into baggier clothes, something less…attractive.
Oh for heaven’s sake, it was Adam, not some lecherous cretin. If he’d wanted to take advantage of her, he could’ve done it last night. Instead, he’d escaped her as fast as he could, no doubt embarrassed by her wanton behavior. Despite his aversion to commitment, Adam Caras was ever the gentleman.
Mel wandered through the living room, down the short hallway to the bathroom, and froze. The soft, lulling sound of the shower running emanated from the bathroom. The door was closed. On the other side, mere feet away, Adam stood in the shower naked and wet, surrounded by steam. Her skin tingled.
The water shut off. Paralyzed, she stared at the door.
Wet, nude, muscular Adam. Right there. On the other side. Her hand drifted up to the door knob, her finger curling around the cool metal. Hot, wet Adam.
The door swung open, the knob jerked out of her hand.
From the paranormal romance Reborn to Conquer (Reborn, Part 4)
Note: This scene takes place in ancient Egypt, as our hero Jake remembers his past life with Dawn, his wife in their current life together.
“We are alone, Raia.”
A shiver of awareness rippled through her. Awareness of his body so hard and close to hers, of his lips hovering achingly near hers. She fisted her hands in the pleats of her gown. Her finger itched to explore his muscles, her mouth watered, her lips burned with the hunger to taste him. To be tasted.
Bek trailed a fingertip along her jaw. “Unless you command me otherwise, I intend to kiss you now.”
Kiss…her? She couldn’t move. Her breaths grew shallow, her lips parting of their own volition, as if inviting him to take her mouth.
He grazed his lips across hers. That faint contact catapulted a dizzying thrill through her. He explored her lips with his, nipping, suckling, teasing until her head swam and her heart raced. When he slipped his tongue between her lips, she let out a tiny whimper.
“Raia,” he murmured against her mouth, “you are a goddess.”
Then he claimed her mouth, covering it with his own as he enfolded her in his strong arms. She clamped her arms around his neck, her breasts crushed into his chest. The warmth of him suffused her, and she moaned at the feel of his hard body against her and the sweet invasion of his tongue as it delved deep into her mouth. By the gods, no one had ever told her kissing could be like this. He roused her desire to a mind-numbing level, with every sweep of his tongue against hers and every stroke of his callused palm across her back. Even the fabric of her gown proved no barrier to his caresses.
His lips and tongue fed into her the rich, sweet flavor of the fig he’d just eaten, and the altogether masculine taste of him. He sneaked a hand between their bodies, cupping her breast, and she moaned again, louder this time.
Bek pulled away, panting, eyes glossy and hooded. “Are we still mere friends?”
Breathing hard herself, she struggled for words and found but one. “No.”
