Meet Logan Shaw (Character Interview by Kimberly Keyes)
Please tell us your name and a little bit about you.
My name is Logan Shaw. I was born a twin, and my brother and I were thick as thieves — till he died. He was a painter, and I was — am — a photographer. I started out wanting to change the world, but after my brother died, I settled into a life of quick thrills and one night stands that always left me wanting. My lifestyle eventually caught up with me, and that’s where I was so-to-speak when I met Candace, the woman of my dreams.
What is your greatest fear?
That’s easy. My greatest fear is that one of my screw-ups will hurt Candace. Like when I wrecked my car during a flash flood and the gorgeous little fool insisted on coming to “rescue” me. If anything had happened to her…I don’t want to think about it. Next question?
What is your greatest strength?
I’m honest. Some say to a fault. Once I make a promise you can bet I’ll keep it. Except for the time I promised my friend, Eric, I’d keep my hands off his friend, Candace…
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Maybe not first sight, but something close to it. I think I fell in love with Candace the day we met. It just took me a little while to figure out that’s what I was feeling. It’s a dumb man thing, I guess. Thank God she was still willing to take a leap of faith with me when I finally got my head on straight.
If you could travel back in time to change one thing in your past, what would it be?
Hard one. Because Candace was in a close call once and I wasn’t there to protect her. But since it was only *close* I’d have to say I’d be on the moving truck with my brother like he asked me — and he wouldn’t die in a freak accident. My life would have been so different if he hadn’t died. But
no matter what I’d find Candace. She was meant for me.
After finding her fiancé in bed with another woman, Candace, a twenty-something, up-and-coming romance novelist takes off for a friend’s vacation home in Tahoe. The good news? She’ll share the place with fellow house guest, Logan, her best friend Eric’s lover. Except…
Logan, the nearly-irresistible-to-women photographer, isn’t Eric’s lover. Not now, not ever. He’s in Tahoe licking his own personal wounds, and before he’s allowed near Candace, he’s sworn off of her. No problem. Except…
There’s something about Candace. She’s not simply beautiful and enticingly off-limits. It’s in the way she doesn’t flirt with him. In the way she treats him like he isn’t a shallow pleasure-seeker. In the way, somehow, she brings peace to his world-weary soul.
Too bad she thinks he’s gay. But even if he can clear that hurdle, can he really entrust Candace’s heart to his own haphazard keeping?
